Interview of Dr. Hoda Rizk to Dimitris Konstantakopoulos
The ceasefire agreement in Gaza satisfies us on one hand, because it stops the war in Palestine, but on the other hand, it is irrational, because it leaves 58% of the Strip under Israeli occupation, and allows Netanyahu and Trump – especially since they change their minds so frequently – to restart from there a new operation of ethnic cleansing of the population of Gaza. This is what tells to us Dr. Hoda Rizk, political sociologist at the Lebanese University, a writer of three books on Turkey and a commentator for Mayadeen Net, specializing on issues related to Turkey and the Middle East.
Dr. Rizk attributes the “ceasefire agreement” to the pressure exerted by Arab governments and especially Turkey on the Palestinians. Erdogan secured in return Trump’s green light for his plans for Syria, and also for South Caucasus. Turkey is becoming again the “fortress” of the West, although it maintains a so-called ‘Eurasian” rhetoric for cheating more easily.
The Lebanese scholar speaks to us about the extensive human rights violations in post-Assad Syria, where they even sell young girls and women. She also refers to the threat of new Israeli military operations against Lebanon and Iran. She expresses the assessment that this time Moscow (as well as Beijing) will support Tehran militarily more than in the past, because the rapprochement of Russia with Trump has failed, as she suggests.

If Iran “falls,” it will mean the realization of the Neoconservatives’ initial plan, the completion of control over all of West Asia and its energy resources by the US and Israel, and the preparation for war against the main global rival of the United States, which is now the People’s Republic of China, the main obstacle, even by its very existence and economic might, to the imposition of a totalitarian Dictatorship of Finance all over the world.
