The Gaza Government Media Office reports unprecedented devastation—76,000 killed or missing, two million displaced, and 90 percent of the Strip destroyed by Israel’s ongoing war.
The Government Media Office in Gaza announced in a report that the rate of destruction across the Palestinian enclave has reached approximately 90 percent, two years after the Israeli occupation began its genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.
The Office described the devastation as an “ongoing genocide targeting both people and stones.”
According to the report, the war—now in its 730th day—has subjected over 2.4 million Palestinians to genocide, starvation, and forced displacement.
The Israeli army has seized control of more than 80 percent of the Strip’s area through ground incursions and continuous bombardment, including 136 airstrikes on the Al-Mawasi area, which Israel itself designated as a “safe humanitarian zone.”
Since the beginning of the war, Israel has dropped over 200,000 tons of explosives on Gaza, killing and wounding hundreds of thousands of people and obliterating the enclave’s infrastructure.

Human Toll
The total number of martyrs and missing persons has reached 76,639, including 67,139 confirmed martyrs who arrived at hospitals and 9,500 missing persons, many still buried under rubble. Among the dead are more than 20,000 children, 12,500 women, and 22,426 fathers.
The report also documented the killing of 1,670 medical personnel, 140 civil defense members, 254 journalists, 787 police officers and aid workers, and 894 members of the sports community.
In total, 39,022 families have been subjected to massacres, while 2,700 families have been completely wiped out—erased from the civil registry—and more than 6,000 families have only one survivor left.
The Office reported that 460 Palestinians, including 154 children, have died from starvation and malnutrition, 23 from failed airdrops of aid, and 17, mostly children, from cold exposure in displacement camps. Over 12,000 miscarriages were recorded due to hunger and lack of healthcare.
Injuries and Arrests
The number of injured stands at 169,583, including more than 4,800 amputees, 1,200 cases of paralysis, and 1,200 cases of blindness. Around 19,000 require long-term rehabilitation.
The report further stated that 6,700 civilians have been detained since the start of the war, including 362 medical personnel, 48 journalists, and 26 civil defense workers.
There are now 21,193 war widows and 56,348 orphaned children, while over 2 million people have been infected with various diseases due to forced displacement, including 71,000 hepatitis cases.
Health Sector
A total of 38 hospitals have been bombed or rendered inoperable, along with 96 healthcare centers, 197 ambulances, and 61 civil defense vehicles.
The health sector has sustained an estimated five billion dollars in direct losses.
Education and Academia
The education sector has been nearly annihilated: 95 percent of Gaza’s schools have suffered damage, and 90 percent of buildings now require full reconstruction.
At least 165 educational institutions were completely destroyed and 392 partially damaged.
More than 13,500 students, 830 teachers, and 193 academics were killed, while 785,000 students remain deprived of education.
Religious and Cultural Sites
The report recorded the destruction of 835 mosques and partial damage to 180 more, as well as the targeting of three churches and 40 cemeteries.
The Israeli army has established seven mass graves inside hospitals and exhumed 529 bodies from them.
Housing and Displacement
Approximately 268,000 housing units were completely destroyed, 148,000 severely damaged, and 153,000 partially damaged—leaving 288,000 families homeless.
Nearly two million civilians have been displaced, while 293 shelters and displacement centers have been targeted.
Starvation and Aid Denial
The crossings into Gaza have been closed for 220 consecutive days, with more than 120,000 aid and fuel trucks blocked from entering.
At least 47 food distribution centers and 61 aid facilities have been targeted, and 540 aid workers were killed. More than 2,600 martyrs and 19,000 wounded were recorded at so-called “US/Israeli aid centers.”
The Office estimates that 650,000 children face the risk of death from malnutrition, and 40,000 infants under one year old are threatened with starvation due to the shortage of baby formula.
Infrastructure
The destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure is almost total: 725 water wells destroyed; 5,080 kilometers of electricity networks and 700,000 meters each of water and sewage networks obliterated; and three million meters of roads and streets damaged.
In total, 247 government buildings, 292 sports facilities, and 208 heritage sites were destroyed. The infrastructure and utilities sector has incurred losses exceeding 1.4 billion dollars in electricity and 2.8 billion dollars in transport and communications.
Agriculture and Fisheries
The occupation has destroyed 94 percent of Gaza’s farmland—out of a total of 178,000 dunams—and 1,223 agricultural wells.
More than 665 animal and poultry farms were wiped out, and 85 percent of greenhouses were destroyed. Fish stocks have been completely eradicated.
Total Economic Losses
The Government Media Office estimates 70 billion dollars in total initial direct losses to 15 vital sectors, including: 28 billion in the housing sector; 6 billion in services and municipalities; 5 billion in health; 4 billion in education; 4 billion in industry and commerce; 2.8 billion in transport and communications; 2 billion in household goods; 1.4 billion in electricity; and 1 billion in religious institutions.
Concluding its statement, the Government Media Office stressed that these statistics “reflect the scale of the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe” facing Gaza’s residents. It called on the international community to “assume its legal and moral responsibilities and act immediately to stop the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people.”
