Mass protests worldwide against US and Israel

Protesters take to the streets against far right in largest-ever demo of its kind, organisers say

Mar 29, 2026

HALF a million people have taken part in the biggest demonstration ever against the far right, campaigners said.

Protesters sent a clear message to the organised far right, saying “No to racism, no to Trump” and “Refugees welcome” as they marched through the streets of central London from Park Lane to Whitehall on Saturday for the Together Alliance rally.

Together Alliance chairman Kevin Courtney told crowds at Whitehall: “Our estimate is now that there are half a million people on this demonstration — the biggest demonstration ever against the far right.”

He was joined by musicians, actors, authors, politicians, trade unionists and campaigners, with MPs Hannah Spencer, Zarah Sultana, Jeremy Corbyn and Richard Burgon among the speakers.

MP Diane Abbott told the rally: “The turnout today is the largest anti-racist march that I have seen in my lifetime, and you should all be proud of yourselves for coming out in such numbers today.”

Joint secretary of the Together Alliance and co-convener of Stand Up To Racism Sabby Dhalu said Britain is seeing an unprecedented growth in support for far-right organisations. But the size of attendance on Saturday, she went on, had “intimidated the far right” from mounting a counterprotest.

The demonstrations were organized by a range of groups, including left-wing political parties, student associations, labor unions, migrant community organizations and non-governmental organizations, as the conflict entered its second month.

In Athens, the main rally began outside the parliament building and marched to the US Embassy. Protesters called for an immediate end to the conflict, urging Greece to stay out of the war and to prioritize public spending on health and education over defense.

“We are here to send a message against the war, against EU-level initiatives that aim to strengthen tools for war preparation. We do not want to be part of that war; we stand with people and peace,” protester Eirini Thanou said.

Another demonstrator, Kostas Asimakis, said the protest was intended to ensure future generations would not bear the consequences of current conflicts.

“Greece should have absolutely nothing to do with this situation, as it will only result in losses for our country,” he said.

Italians protest against Iran war and attack on judicial independence

THOUSANDS of people protested in Italy at the weekend against the US-Israeli wars in the Middle East and a government attack on judges’ independence, linking international conflicts with a growing domestic political battle before a national referendum.

The March 22-23 referendum on changes to the judicial system has become a major political test for Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s far-right government, which faces an election next year.

The debate over the legal shake-up has escalated into a broader confrontation between the prime minister and her political opponents.

Police arrest 18 as anti-war protests spread across Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem

The police arrested at least 18 people during protests on Saturday night against the war with Iran, as they had to use force to break up the demonstrations in several major cities.

Thousands of people demonstrated at three main rallies across the country, in Tel Aviv at Habima Square, in Haifa near the Horev Center, and in Jerusalem at Paris Square.

This is the first time that anti-government organizations participated in protests against the war, after smaller demonstrations were earlier held by far-left groups.

The protests, under the title “For the lives of all of us,” were organized by the Peace Partnership coalition, initiated by former leftist MKs and activists.

In addition to the anti-war protests, parts of the demonstrations protested against the government’s proposed judicial reform.
