Remembering Meike Sahling

Tonight, the 7th day of the 7th month in the lunar calendar, is, by Chinese legend, when two separated lovers are allowed, once in a year, to cross the Milky Way and meet, assisted by a flock of magpies.

Yet, instead of news of reunion, it is with great grief that I break to you the news that Meike Sahling, a Global U Founding member, at the age of 54, died of malaria on July 31 in Uganda where she had been working on a peace mission.

Meike was coordinator of PeaceWomen Across the Globe (PWAG) from Nov 2012 to Dec 2016. She was most capable, humble, loving and generous, dedicated to the cause of peace for women, and women for peace. She was the first one on the right in this picture of PWAG board and staff.

May she rest in peace, and may we continue on the arduous path for peace!

Our condolences to her family!
