German court rules in favour of banned Palestinian-British surgeon

Nov 7, 2025

In July 2025, the Berlin Administrative Court ruled that Germany’s ban on British-Palestinian surgeon and academic Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah was unlawful.

The court found that the Berlin Immigration Office had wrongly barred him from entering the country to speak at the 2024 Palestine Congress.

It noted that Abu Sittah’s firsthand experience of Israeli air strikes in Gaza and his testimony before the International Criminal Court should have been considered.

The conference, organized by pro-Palestinian activists to discuss Germany’s role in the war, was shut down by police shortly after it began.
