Alon Mizrahi, an Israeli journalist, one of the most outspoken Jewish commentators, said: this is a war the west cannot win: Israeli journalist warns of strategic collapse in Iran conflict. “We are witnessing history. Iran, to everyone’s surprise, is destroying American bases so thoroughly, on such a large scale and so decisively that the world is not prepared for it.
In just four days, Iran has managed to expand its sphere of military dominance in the region. Iranian strikes have targeted some of the most valuable and expensive military bases, assets and equipment in the world.
The American bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are among the largest military facilities anywhere on the planet. These installations have cost trillions of dollars to build over several decades. We are effectively witnessing the destruction of military spending accumulated over more than 30 years.
We are seeing radar systems worth hundreds of millions of dollars each destroyed in an instant. Entire military bases appear to be abandoned, damaged, looted or burning. As far as I know, the United States has never suffered destruction on this scale in its history — perhaps only Pearl Harbor comes close, and that was a single attack.
No enemy in a conventional war has ever inflicted such damage on American military forces as Iran is doing now. It is difficult to believe. The military situation appears so serious that censorship is limiting almost all new information about the war. If you have noticed, we are receiving less and less information each day.
Thirty-five years ago, during the first Gulf War, we were shown endless footage from Iraq. At the time, smart bombs and on-board cameras were a novelty, yet every night we saw video of night-time strikes. Today we see almost no footage at all.
Consider this: supposedly the world’s most powerful military, with the largest air capability on the planet, is now on the fourth day of an offensive against Iran — yet we see no clear evidence of American dominance in Iranian airspace. Where are the recordings of aircraft flying over Tehran or any other Iranian city?
American soldiers cannot even contemplate setting foot on Iranian soil. And to understand how desperate this situation is, by the fourth day we are already hearing extraordinary proposals from the Trump administration, such as sending military escorts for oil tankers leaving the Persian Gulf. What exactly does that mean? You want to send American ships into an area covered by thousands of Iranian missiles? At this point, no one can safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has been preparing for this scenario for decades. There are even discussions about arming Kurdish militias to invade Iran. But have you seen a map of Iran? It seems the Trump administration has not. Do you understand how vast the country is? What does it mean to invade Iran? Do you really think a militia of 10,000 people could invade Iran? Or even 50,000? Or 100,000? Iran would swallow them.
The United States and Israel have already lost this war. They may have the capability to inflict enormous destruction on civilian infrastructure, using powerful bombs to demolish buildings, but that will not win the war. Iran’s military infrastructure and weaponry are buried deep underground across the country. Neither the Americans nor, especially, the Israelis have any realistic chance of reaching most of it.
They have started something they have no chance of finishing. When this conflict ends, the United States will never return to West Asia. There will be no American presence left in the Middle East. I am telling you this with certainty.”
