Resolution of June 19, 2025: Stop the illegal war of aggression against Iran – End German arms deliveries to Israel!

The BSW party executive committee states: On June 13, 2025, Israel launched a war of aggression against Iran that violates international law. The attacks by the Israeli army and the Israeli foreign intelligence service Mossad are directed against Iranian nuclear facilities, military installations, Iranian politicians and military personnel, as well as against nuclear physicists and journalists, in blatant violations of international humanitarian law. The far-right Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claims that Tehran is close to developing a nuclear bomb.

Iran is responding with airstrikes against Israel, which also hit civilian facilities. US President Donald Trump is embracing Israel’s war of aggression and demanding unconditional surrender from Iran – even though his intelligence chief, Tulsi Gabbard, told the US Congressional Intelligence Committee on March 25, 2025, that US intelligence agencies continued to assess that Iran was not building nuclear weapons and that the country’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, had still not approved the nuclear weapons program suspended in 2003.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz supported Israel’s violation of international law and thanked Israel for the “dirty work” it was doing “for all of us.” Neither arms deliveries from NATO countries nor the EU-Israel Association Agreement will be suspended. While Israel attacks Iran, Palestinians are being killed daily in Gaza by Israeli security forces. The Netanyahu government continues the genocide against the Palestinian population – with the declared goal of ethnic cleansing the entire region.

The BSW party executive committee demands:

  1. A diplomatic initiative by the German government for an immediate ceasefire and to prevent an escalation of the war against Iran started by Israel.
  2. An end to all support by the German government for Israel’s war of aggression, which violates international law, in particular an immediate halt to all arms deliveries to Israel.
  3. A ban on the use of US military bases in Germany for logistical or military support of the Israeli war of aggression.
  4. An initiative by the German government in the NATO Council to end military and intelligence cooperation with Israel.
  5. An initiative by the German government in the EU Council to suspend the Association Agreement between the European Union and Israel.
  6. A Federal Government initiative before the International Criminal Court to prosecute Israeli war crimes – such as the attacks on nuclear facilities and television stations in Iran.
  7. Comprehensive humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip and diplomatic efforts to prevent genocide and ethnic displacement of the Palestinians.
  8. An end to the Federal Government’s cooperation with the far-right Israeli government regarding the war of aggression against Iran and the genocide of the Palestinians.
  9. Condemnation of US President Donald Trump’s threats of violence against Iran as a violation of the UN Charter.
  10. An independent European security and foreign policy that no longer participates in or supports US and Israeli wars of aggression and recognizes that the erosion of international law is not in the interest of the European people.
