Spain’s Strange and Persistent Bad Luck

Dimitris Konstantakopoulos | Oct 28, 2026

Strange things are happening in Spain. One day it suffers a terrible and unexplained blackout. The next it faces a mass influx of migrants from Morocco, one of Israel’s key allies in the western Mediterranean (the Spanish Prime Minister is one of the few European leaders who opposed the genocide of the Palestinians, the use of American bases against Iran, and Trump’s demand to raise military spending to 5%). Now, in the midst of an election period, a rather strange deadly train accident occurs, while the trade unions declare a general strike.

All of this could be diabolical coincidences. But it might not be.
