Javed Aslam: Campaign of support against the revocation of asylum

“He is also a target of the Greek government (in addition to the Pakistani government) because he consistently defends the rights of refugees and immigrants. We will defend him until the end.”

This was emphasized, during the press conference organized by KEERFA on Tuesday 3/3 at the Athens Bar Association for the attempted revocation of Javed Aslam’s asylum, by the lawyer of the president of the Pakistani Community, Vasilis Papadopoulos.

“They elected me president of the Pakistani Community to be next to every Pakistani worker, next to the stabbed, next to the truth. I will not be their ruffian no matter how much they want me to,” Javed Aslam himself clarified. While his daughter and Philosophy student, Ariba Noor, stressed that “a democracy must always guarantee the right to justice and not persecute those who claim it.”

The coordinator of KEERFA, Petros Constantinou, and the lawyers Takis Zotos, Thanasis Kampayiannis, Kostas Papadakis and Dimitris Choulis also took the floor. At the same time, the launch of a major support campaign and the collection of signatures was announced.

ANTARSYA, in its statement, speaks of a “provocative, vindictive and blatantly racist attack by the far-right Minister of “Anti-Immigration and Abolition of Asylum, Thanos Plevris”, noting that in the person of Javed Aslam “they want to attack the organization and militancy of immigrants from Pakistan”.
