Hezbollah chief: Gaza peace plan serves ‘Greater Israel’ goals

Naim Qassem claims the U.S. ceasefire proposal is part of Jerusalem’s alleged expansionist project.

Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem claimed on Saturday that the American proposal to end the war in Gaza is part of a scheme by Jerusalem to forge a “Greater Israel.”

The leader of the Iran-backed terrorist organization in Lebanon said that U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan “was modified to align with Israel’s interests,” adding that the Jewish state “is working toward the Greater Israel plan and the U.S. is fully assisting it.”

The “Greater Israel” conspiracy theory claims that Zionists or the Israeli government secretly aim to expand Israel’s borders far beyond current lines—sometimes from the Nile to the Euphrates—by controlling or annexing large parts of the Middle East.

Qassem was speaking at an event commemorating a year since Hezbollah terrorist commanders Nabil Qaouk and Suhail Husseini were killed by Israeli airstrikes on Sept. 28 and Oct. 7, 2024, respectively.

“In fact, this plan is a plan full of dangers,” the terrorist leader said. “It is Israel’s project, which it seeks to achieve through politics after failing to achieve it through military action, aggression, genocide and famine.”

The situation in Lebanon remains volatile following the expiration of the Israel-Hezbollah truce on Feb. 18. The Iranian-backed terror group began firing missiles and drones at Israel a day after the Hamas-led massacre on Oct. 7, 2023, and the Nov. 27, 2024, ceasefire brought an end to more than a year of fighting.

Hezbollah Backs Hamas on Trump’s Ceasefire Proposal

Oct 6, 2025

Lebanon’s Hezbollah announced Sunday its support for Hamas’s stance on the U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed ceasefire plan, which the group said was coordinated with other Palestinian resistance factions.

In a statement, Hezbollah said Hamas’s rejection of compromise reflected both a commitment to halting Israel’s “brutal aggression” in Gaza and a firm adherence to Palestinian national rights.

The group emphasized that Hamas’s position, aligned with other Palestinian factions, underscores unity among Palestinians and sets legitimate national rights as the framework for any negotiations. Such talks, Hezbollah said, must secure a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, prevent the displacement of its population, and allow Palestinians to govern their own political, security, and economic affairs free of outside interference.

Hezbollah urged Arab and Islamic states to rally behind the Palestinian people and back the resistance factions’ stance. The party called for regional support to stop the military campaign in Gaza and the West Bank, prevent further displacement, aid reconstruction efforts, and help restore Palestinians’ national rights.

Hamas Delegation in Cairo: Movement Denies Disarmament Allegations

Oct 6, 2025

Hamas denied media claims that it agreed to disarm, calling them fabricated ahead of a new Egypt-hosted ceasefire and prisoner exchange talks under Trump’s Gaza plan.

The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas issued a statement on Sunday rejecting what it described as “fabricated allegations” circulated by several media outlets concerning the ongoing ceasefire negotiations and the group’s position on disarmament.

Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi said, “We categorically deny the fabricated claims published by a number of media outlets regarding the progress of the ceasefire talks and Hamas’ stance on disarmament.”

He added that such reports were baseless and aimed at “distorting facts and misleading public opinion.” Mardawi urged media organizations to verify information and rely solely on official and credible Hamas channels instead of rumors and anonymous sources.

The statement came in response to reports quoting an unnamed Hamas source who claimed that the movement had begun collecting the bodies of Israelis and agreed to surrender its weapons to a joint Palestinian-Egyptian body under international supervision.

Revolt Against the Enemy’s Plan: How Trump’s Proposal Seeks To Liquidate Palestine

By Alain Alameddine
Oct 2, 2025

Trump’s plan demands the total capitulation of Palestinians – the concession of Palestinian sovereignty and resistance. This colonial attack must be confronted by all Palestinians, irrespective of their affiliations, in order to protect the Palestinian cause.

Trump’s plan is not a proposal for a ceasefire, or even for a defeat that the Palestinians can manage and eventually recover from, but rather for total capitulation. It also targets not only Hamas, but the entire Palestinian society. Of course, no one has the right to silence the Palestinian voice in Gaza and the diverse, supporting, opposing, and hesitant opinions there regarding the plan. At the same time, it is necessary to analyze its content and take action for Gaza and Palestine. In addition to not guaranteeing an end to the genocide, how does Trump’s plan form the basis for liquidating the Palestinian cause? And how can we influence the balance of power in the face of this colonial attack?

A Plan That Concedes Two Fundamental Rights: Resistance and Sovereignty

The plan does not only stipulate that Hamas must give up its weapons. It also speaks of a commitment and pledge by all factions that Gaza will not pose a threat to the colony, and speaks of Gaza as a “de-radicalized terror-free zone”, which implies recognizing the resistance as radicalism and terrorism. It also speaks of “amnesty” for fighters who drop the armed resistance, which implies recognizing resistance as a crime.

Hezbollah expresses support for Hamas’ position on Trump’s plan

Oct 5, 2025

Beirut – Saba:
Today, Sunday, the Lebanese Hezbollah expressed its support for the stance adopted by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), in consultation and coordination with other Palestinian resistance factions, regarding U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to halt Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Hezbollah stated in a communiqué received by the Yemen News Agency (SABA): “This position, while rooted in a strong concern to stop the brutal Israeli aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip, also affirms the commitment to the principles of the Palestinian cause and the protection of the Palestinian people’s rights.”

The statement added: “This position also reflects Hamas’ commitment, along with all resistance factions, to the unity of the Palestinian people. It considers that the Palestinian national consensus, based on legitimate national rights, should be the framework for negotiations aimed at ensuring the withdrawal of the enemy from the entire Gaza Strip, preventing the displacement of its residents, enabling the Palestinian people to manage their political, security, and livelihood affairs independently with their own capabilities, and rejecting any form of external guardianship, regardless of its nature or source.”

Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades Reject Trump’s Gaza Ceasefire Plan, Call It “Trap”

Oct 5, 2025

The Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades (Kata’ib Hezbollah) issued a statement rejecting U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point ceasefire initiative for Gaza, unveiled on September 29, 2025, during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The group described the plan as “full of traps”.

Why it matters:

The Trump plan has drawn mixed reactions globally. While some Arab and Islamic nations have welcomed it as a step toward ending the war and rebuilding Gaza, resistance groups like Hamas and Iraqi Hezbollah have voiced deep skepticism. Hamas issued a conditional response on October 3, agreeing to a full ceasefire, prisoner exchange, and independent administration of Gaza, but called for collective Palestinian review of the plan’s future implications.

What they’re saying:

“It is not wise to let the executioner play the role of judge and claim to deliver justice to a people who have endured nearly two years of torture, killing, displacement, and savage aggression that spared neither stone nor soul,” the statement read.

The Hezbollah Brigades accused the U.S. of “unlimited criminal support” for Israeli actions in Gaza and warned that Trump’s initiative is designed to entrench Israeli dominance under the guise of peace.

They expressed confidence in Palestinian resistance leaders to turn the threat into an opportunity for “steadfastness, trust, and liberation.”

The big picture:

Trump’s plan, which includes disarmament of Hamas, international oversight, and phased Israeli withdrawal, has been hailed by some Western and Arab leaders as a “historic” opportunity. However, critics argue it lacks guarantees for Palestinian sovereignty and risks legitimizing continued occupation. The Hezbollah Brigades called on Arab and Islamic countries to “fulfill their responsibilities in this critical moment” and stand firmly with the Palestinian people.
