NATO: Provoking Russia, destroying Ukraine, increasing nuclear risks

Ukrainian Drones Attack Cargo Port Area of ZNPP

Apr.6, 2024

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Ukrainian combat drones attacked the cargo port area and a nitrogen-oxygen station of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) on Friday, the station’s press office said, adding that the incident did not result in any significant damage.

Ukrainian combat drone attacks have been recorded in the Zaporozhye NPP area recently. In particular, areas of the cargo port and the second nitrogen-oxygen station of Zaporozhye NPP were hit today,” the office said in a statement, adding that the ZNPP’s critical infrastructure was not damaged.

The station’s press office called all attacks on the ZNPP and its facilities unacceptable.

Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is located on the left bank of the Dnepr River and is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It came under the control of Russian forces in early March 2022 and has since been repeatedly shelled, raising international concerns over a possible nuclear accident. IAEA experts have been working at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant since September 1, 2022, following IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi’s first visit to the facility.

“Our purpose of the summit is to help build a bridge to that membership and to create a clear pathway for Ukraine moving forward. We’ve done a lot of work on that over the last couple of days here in Brussels, a lot more work to be done between now and the summit, but we will see, I think, at the summit very strong support for Ukraine going forward and its relationship with NATO,” Blinken said.

Joint Chiefs Chairman Claims Giving Ukraine Long-Range ATACMs Is No Longer as Risky

April 1, 2024

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown has claimed arming Ukraine with long-range Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMs) isn’t as risky now as it was earlier in the war.

“The risk of escalation is not as high as maybe it was at the beginning,” Brown told reporters last week, according to Defense One.

ATACMs are missiles that can be fired from the HIMARS rocket systems the US has been providing Ukraine. According to media reports, the US has secretly armed Ukraine with an older cluster bomb variant of the ATACMs, which have a range of up to 100 miles.

NATO’s ‘Losing War’ and an Empty Promise to Ukraine

Apr 6, 2024

Foreign ministers of NATO member states met in Brussels this week to mark the alliance’s seventh anniversary and prepare for their July summit in Washington. During the meeting, participants discussed plans to expand their support for Ukraine.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated Thursday that Ukraine will eventually join NATO. It was the same message the US has been repeating since 2008, although the alliance has not revealed a concrete timeline for Ukraine’s accession.

US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (often referred to as MTG) and US Senator JD Vance took to social media to decry Blinken’s comments as irresponsible and dangerous, saying inviting Ukraine to join NATO during a war is to “invite our nation to war.”
