Speakers:
Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh teaches and does research at Bethlehem, Birzeit, and AAUP Universities. He is founder and director of the Palestine Museum of Natural History (PMNBH) and the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) at Bethlehem University (http://palestinenature.org).
Qumsiyeh published over 150 scientific papers and several books on topics ranging from cultural heritage to human rights to biodiversity to cancer.
His many published books include “Bats of Egypt”, “Mammals of the Holy Land”, “Sharing the Land of Canaan: Human rights and the Israeli/Palestinian Struggle” and “Popular Resistance in Palestine: A History of Hope and Empowerment”. He also published hundreds of articles and letters to the editor. He serves on the board of a number of Palestinian youth and service organizations (see also http://qumsiyeh.org).
Zohar Chamberlain Regev is an Israeli citizen (born near Nazareth) lived in Spain between 2004 and 2018 where she participated in the coordination of Rumbo a Gaza, the Spanish component of the Freedom Flotilla to break the Siege of Gaza and she was the owner of the Women’s Boat to Gaza (Zaytouna-Oliva) seized in 2016 then confiscated by Israel. She was the Flotilla’s boat leader on board Al Awda in 2019. For 6 months in 2019 and since May 2020 Zohar volunteers at the Palestinian Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability at Bethlehem University and resided in Beit Sahour in defiance for the military commander order that prohibits Jewish Israelis from entering area A.
We at PIBS-BU give webinars once or twice a week to diverse audiences and we are willing to do more starting January 🙂
