Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov addressed several key global issues, warning that NATO and the EU are using ties with Central Asia and the South Caucasus to distance them from Russia. Lavrov confirmed ongoing communication with the U.S. following the Alaska meeting between Presidents Putin and Trump, expressing hope for a lasting peace in Ukraine. He also discussed Russia’s proposal to extend voluntary compliance with the New START treaty limits until 2026, urging Washington to reciprocate. Commenting on the Burevestnik missile test, Lavrov noted “no reactions” through diplomatic channels, while highlighting deepening CIS regional cooperation in trade, education, and culture.
