Greece launches website on protected areas reserves, mountain shelters, thermal baths, culture sites

The protected nature reserves throughout Greece but also information about the mountain shelters, information centers, museums, monuments and archeological sites, ski resorts, wetlands, mountains and thermal baths can be found on a new website VisitGreekNature that seeks to promote Greece’s protected areas as tourist destinations.

The website was created by the Goulandris Museum of Natural History and the Hellenic Center for Habitats – Wetlands, with funding from the Green Fund. The website was presented at an online event by the museum representative, Lena Hatziiordanou,

The website presents new methods of showcasing and promoting protected areas.

The website presents all the protected areas of mainland and island Greece, giving equal weight to both the natural and cultural wealth of the country, while it aims to highlight their importance and value for recreation.

It is aimed at a broad audience that includes agencies, institutions and scientists as well as non-specialist nature lovers, while it is user friendly.

Hatziiordanou pointed out that the website has already attracted the interest of many people based on the views recorded.
