Elon Musk asks for the liberation of Greek Far Right activist

The billionaire owner of X and CEO and largest shareholder of Tesla and SpaceX shared a post by Rebecca Mistereggen, a Norwegian right-wing activist, who argued that Kasidiaris remained in prison despite good behavior and a prosecutor’s recommendation for his release. She also criticized a court’s consideration of his continued political activity on X, writing that it set “a dangerous precedent.”

Musk commented simply: “This is messed up.”

In October 2020, Kasidiaris, 45, was convicted to 13.5 years’ imprisonment in a landmark trial that found that neo-Nazi Golden Dawn was a paramilitary criminal organization operating under the guise of a political party. The court held that senior party members were responsible for directing an organization linked to that and other violent attacks against migrants and political opponents.

Kasidiaris welcomed the intervention, describing it as an important statement in support of free speech and political rights in Greece and Europe.

The post referred to the rejection of one of Kasidiaris’ requests for early release. He has filed multiple requests for conditional release in recent years. While some former associates have been released under strict conditions, Kasidiaris remains incarcerated amid ongoing legal debate over his continued political activity from prison.

Musk, who acquired X, formerly Twitter, in 2022, has transformed the platform into a vehicle for his political views, frequently using it to comment on elections, immigration and other contentious issues.
