Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Palantir of profiting from armed conflicts and criticized CEO Alex Karp’s views on Europe’s postwar demilitarization.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Saturday said US technology company Palantir Technologies was “one of the greatest threats to the modern world,” accusing the firm of profiting from armed conflicts and promoting what she called a dangerous ideology.
Writing on her Telegram channel, Zakharova criticized the company for its role in supplying artificial intelligence-powered software platforms to Western militaries, arguing that its technology has been used in multiple conflicts, including the war in Ukraine.
“We will never tire of repeating: Palantir is one of the greatest threats to the modern world,” Zakharova wrote.
She added that the company has been directly involved in numerous armed conflicts abroad and claimed its primary source of profit comes from warfare. “Because the main thing Palantir profits from is killings in armed conflicts,” she said.
Russian official criticizes Alex Karp’s views
Zakharova also took aim at Palantir CEO Alex Karp, citing statements from his book The Technological Republic and the company’s manifesto.
According to Zakharova, Karp argued that “the postwar castration of Germany and Japan must be undone” and that Europe “is paying a high price” for disarming Nazi Germany after World War II.
She said the ideology promoted by Palantir’s leadership was as dangerous as the technologies the company develops. “A giant military corporation with contracts and connections in defense ministries and health ministries of Western countries, run by open fascists,” she wrote.
Moscow links Palantir to Western military operations
Zakharova argued that the rapid remilitarization of fascism reflects a broader Western mentality rooted in racism and colonialism, claiming it promotes the notion that some nations are superior while others should be destroyed.
She also criticized the lack of condemnation from Western governments and descendants of Holocaust victims regarding Karp’s alleged remarks.
“But what is even more frightening is the 100% tolerance of the Western community and the descendants of Holocaust victims toward the neo-Nazi ‘narrative’ voiced by Karp: not a single call for cancellation, not a single official voice appealing to historical memory, not a single sanction,” Zakharova said.
She concluded by contrasting the reaction with the treatment of Russian cultural figures, writing: “After all, this is not Tchaikovsky.”
European investors pour billions into Palantir
Major European banks and asset managers have dramatically increased their investments in Palantir over the past year, despite the controversial US technology company’s links to serious human rights violations, El País reported, citing an international investigation coordinated by Follow The Money.
Palantir provides services to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and to the Israeli army in the occupied Palestinian territories. In 2020, Amnesty International denounced the company for failing to comply with international standards, while consulting firm MSCI gave it a score of two out of ten for “civil liberties” and “human rights” in a recent benchmark report.
Nevertheless, more than 100 major European banks, asset managers, insurers, and pension funds increased their combined stake in the company by more than 60 percent in the last year. The economic value of these stakes nearly quadrupled in a year, driven by the spectacular rise in Palantir’s share price throughout 2024. By the end of 2025, the total value reached $27 billion.
Why Palantir is controversial
Palantir has become known for its ability to analyze massive volumes of data, especially using tools designed for armed forces and security services. Its Maven Smart System is considered critical by the Pentagon for gathering classified data and using it for target acquisition, strategic planning, and the guidance of drones and missiles.
Several international media outlets have reported that Palantir’s technology was used in the recent US-Israeli aggression on Iran.
In 2024, the company signed a strategic alliance with the Israeli military to support its genocide in Gaza. In the United States, ICE has been using its software to locate migrant families since at least 2020. Palantir’s founder and chairman, Peter Thiel, is known for his opposition to democracy and is a major supporter of Donald Trump.
