An artificial crisis, on Israel’s orders, is the migration crisis that has been unfolding since Thursday at Spain’s borders. The goal of the Israeli destabilization plan is to undermine and overthrow Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, because the Social Democratic politician supports Palestine and refuses to become a submissive instrument of Israel, as almost all European prime ministers have become.
Sánchez has been targeted by Zionism because, together with South Africa, he brought Israel before the International Criminal Court on charges of committing genocide in Gaza. The result was the issuance of an arrest warrant for the Israeli prime minister. Sánchez recognized the state of Palestine, received Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Madrid with head-of-state honors, held a joint press conference with him, and called Palestine a “brother state.” In 2025, Sánchez banned the sale of weapons and the import of any kind of goods from illegal Jewish settlements. He has also repeatedly called on the EU to apply against Israel whatever sanctions it applied against Russia, in connection with the war in Ukraine.
Sánchez, a Red Flag for Israel, Trump, and the Far Right
Sánchez further worsened his position by also coming under Trump’s crosshairs. The trigger was Spain’s reluctance to increase its military spending as the US demanded of all NATO countries, so that American defense industries could have business and the politicians who feed off them could have revenue. Spain allocates 2.13% of its GDP to military spending, while Trump has demanded that they pay 5%. As a result, at the recent summit of the war organization in Ankara, Trump surpassed even himself in buffoonery, delivering a tirade of insults against Spain: “I don’t want to have anything to do with Spain. Cut off all trade with Spain, even travel. Don’t even talk to them. They are desperate, bad people,” he said, causing every serious person to reassess Spain.
Sánchez gave lessons in principled politics, being an exception in European Social Democracy of submission to imperialism and opportunism, before anywhere else within his own country. He was elected head of the Social Democratic PSOE party in 2014, but in 2016 the party barons forced him to resign because he refused to co-govern with the Right. In 2017, he regained the leadership with the help of party members, to whom he appealed by putting forward the need for democracy. In 2018, he was elected prime minister relying on a narrow and fragile majority. In 2023, he granted amnesty to those who participated in the Catalan independence referendum, thus closing a festering wound that divided Spain, naturally provoking the fury of the Right.
Sánchez also managed to become a red flag for the European Right after his decision to legalize 500,000 undocumented migrants (in a country of 50 million inhabitants, out of a total of 1.2 million undocumented migrants). In this context, the migration crisis seemed to justify the attacks of the global Right against him, ranging from the Kasidiaris-admiring neo-Nazi Elon Musk to Italian neo-fascist Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who called for Spain’s participation in the Schengen Area to be suspended. Although Meloni’s reaction was aimed at her domestic audience and sought to outdo the anti-migration demagoguery of the far-right former General Roberto Vannacci, who is slowly but steadily eroding her own voter base, she managed to turn the Spanish migration issue into a European crisis.
The dirty work against Sánchez, on the orders of Israel, Trump, and the European far right, was undertaken by Morocco in a way it knows well: using poor and desperate migrants.
It did it again in 2021, when in a single day it pushed 6,000 migrants into the enclave of Ceuta, to punish Madrid for adopting a lax stance toward the perennial separatist Polisario Front, which, with Algeria’s support, seeks the independence of Western Sahara. Spain has an additional reason to care about Western Sahara (which some African states have recognized as the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic) because it administered it until 1975. Eventually, in 2022, Spain adopted Morocco’s position, i.e., limited autonomy for Western Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty, resulting in Algeria recalling its ambassador from Madrid.
Algeria, the Straw That Broke the Camel’s Back
The rift between Spain and Algeria appeared to be closing on the occasion of Sánchez’s visit to Algiers on July 20, on his return from New York, where he watched the Spain-Argentina football match, enjoying his national team’s victory. The meeting between the Spanish prime minister and Algeria’s political leadership inaugurated a new relationship between the two countries, as Sánchez literally said. This relationship is primarily based on economic cooperation, as Spain imports 34% of its natural gas imports in liquefied form. The executives of the four Spanish energy companies (Repsol, Naturgy, Moeve, Enagas) accompanying Sánchez set off multiple alarms in Washington, which does not hesitate to wage wars even in Ukraine and Iran to secure liquefied natural gas transport contracts for American energy multinationals. And it is forced to watch Spain buy gas from its competitors…
In other words, behind Trump’s theatrics toward Spain lies US pressure on Sánchez to become like… Mitsotakis and turn his country into a terminal for American gas pipelines. The US, both to undermine Sánchez’s government and to curry favor with the King of Morocco, officially challenged Spanish sovereignty over the two enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, located in North Africa within Morocco’s borders and which were overwhelmed in recent days by Moroccan migrants. As recently as May 2026, a US House of Representatives committee characterized for the first time the two Spanish-administered enclaves as “Moroccan territory that is a long-standing Moroccan claim.” It was the first time the US had intervened on this issue, stoking a hot front between two countries, of course for Morocco’s benefit. Needless to say, if the US truly cared about the sovereign rights and territorial integrity of third countries, it should have started by withdrawing from Guantánamo… Their motives, therefore, did not stem from principled positions and were entirely self-serving.
The expulsion of Spain from the two enclaves had even been instigated by Netanyahu’s son, who lives in Miami. In a post, he called on Arabs and Muslims to take back today’s Spanish possessions under their control! In this way, he was building bridges with Arabs and Muslims while also showing his hatred for Sánchez’s Spain. Above all, he showed the destabilizing role that Israel plays.
And in the case of Ceuta and Melilla, it is not even about the fate of the 170,000 mainly Spanish residents who live in the enclaves surrounded by towering fences. It is also about the fate of the 14-kilometer-long Strait of Gibraltar, through which 100,000 ships pass annually. Its checkpoints are three, one of which is British, a genuine remnant of colonialism (Gibraltar, since 1713), and two Spanish (one point on the African coast at Ceuta and the other on the European coast at Tarifa). Spain’s abandonment of Ceuta and its surrender to (the Israeli- and US-subservient) Morocco, however reasonable it may seem even as a completion of Morocco’s territorial sovereignty, in practice amounts to an expansion of American imperialism and Zionism, which will now control the entrance to the Mediterranean from the Atlantic. It is no coincidence that the Zionist ambassador to the UN criticized Spain in a post, demanding that it apologize for maintaining colonial enclaves in Africa. Israel, a hybrid of colonialism and imperialism created through the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, is bothered by colonialism…
Morocco, although it only formally established relations with the apartheid state in December 2020 as part of the Trump-inspired and designed Abraham Accords, becoming the sixth Arab League state to betray the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative (which provided for normalization of diplomatic relations in exchange for Israel’s withdrawal from occupied territories and recognition of a Palestinian state), has always maintained channels of communication with the Jewish state. The relations between the two countries were upgraded and intensified in January 2026 with the signing of a military cooperation agreement, providing for the sale of military materiel to Morocco and what Israel knows how to do better than any other state: creating tensions for its own benefit by using third countries. If we put Greece in Morocco’s place and Turkey in Spain’s place, we discern a pattern of foreign policy that Israel consistently follows, seeking strategic partnerships not for the sake of peace and stability, but solely to extend tensions and conflicts through useful idiots (Morocco and Greece in this case) against those states that, for various reasons, stand in the way of its plans (Spain and Turkey in this case), gradually turning the entire Mediterranean into a Middle East. This is Israel’s plan!
Morocco, even with the help of its police, was driving desperate migrants to flood the two Spanish enclaves, pushing Madrid to reconsider its retention of them and directly to punish Spain for its principled stance toward the genocide of Palestinians. It is no coincidence that on the same day, the entire Israeli leadership was offering congratulations to the corrupt and hated King of Morocco on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of his enthronement.
Israel’s plan succeeded: yet another hostile country is being tested…
