France’s Melenchon calls Israeli raid of Madleen aid flotilla ‘act of piracy’

Jun 12, 2025

La France Insoumise (LFI) leader Jean-Luc Melenchon said he fears “the worst” for the fate of the activists on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla Coalition vessel Madleen, raided off Gaza by Israeli forces, which include LFI MEP Rima Hassan and activist Greta Thunberg.

Melenchon said the interception of the aid boat in international waters was “an act of piracy”.

Israeli forces intercepted the Gaza-bound aid boat on Monday, preventing the activists on board from reaching the besieged strip.
